Some 15 retired teachers of the Perry Community School District toured the newly remodeled Perry Middle School Wednesday, led by PCSD Superintendent Clark Wicks and PMS Principal Ned Menke and PMS Associate Principal Brandi Wendt.
The pensioned pedagogues spent about an hour inspecting the $10 million makeover, ranging from the new front office at the school’s west entrance to the STEM lab at the eastern extremity.
Wicks said the project’s target completion date is Feb. 14, and a public open house will be held in order to celebrate the remodeling.
Asbestos abatement began in May at the 62-year-old PMS building, erected in 1959. About 400 PMS students have been sharing classroom space with about 550 PHS students in the high school, including about 130 sixth graders, who occupy the new multipurpose room — popularly known as the Turf Room.
