Ronald “Ron” Sorber, 77, of Perry passed away Thursday, April 27, 2023, at the Methodist West Hospital in West Des Moines, Iowa.

In accord with his wishes, no services are planned.

Ronald “Ron” Ray Sorber was born Nov. 17, 1945, in Perry, Iowa, to Orlin Charles and Lila Hope (Bennett) Sorber.

He graduated from Perry High School.

Ron served his country in the U.S. Iowa Army National Guard.

He was united in marriage to Judith L. Hamman.

Ron worked as a GM mechanic at Garrett Motor for six years and then purchased Case Machine Shop to start his own business, Ron Sorber’s Automotive.

He loved to fish, snow mobile, ride his ATV and cut wood.

In death he rejoins his parents, Orlin and Lila Sorber; and a sister, Yvonne Pope.

Left to cherish Ron’s memory are his wife, Judith Sorber; children, Chad (Audra) Sorber and Jamie (Josh) Wuebker; grandchildren, McKenzie Sorber, Kennedy Sorber, Kaylee Wuebker and Reed Wuebker; and a sister, Diane (Terry) Murphy.

Memorials will be given to Raccoon River Pet Rescue and may be left at the Carris Family Funeral Home and Cremation Care. Online condolences may be left at www.carrisfuneralhome.com.

  1. Judy, so sorry to see of Ron’s passing. Cherish all the days you spent with him. Mildred was my friend and always spoke highly of Ron. When we were in school, we laughed about getting old, and here we are. Sorry for your loss. An old friend, Becky Tiffany Zimmerman.
