Rough Saturday for Panorama volleyball

CORNING — The Panorama netters were playing without a pair of familiar faces, and the altered lineup could not keep up with the competition Saturday at the Southwest Valley Tournament.

Panorama (5-12 overall) dropped all six of the their matches, each in two games. The Panthers fell to host SW Valley (21-12, 21-10), CAM (21-13, 21-10), Clarke (21-16, 2-15) and Exira-EHK (22-20, 21-18) in pool play. They were then handed setbacks by AHSTW (21-10, 21-14) and Lenox (21-14, 21-19).

Angle Poldberg’s combined 24 kills led the Panther attack, with Tyme Boettcher adding 20 kills and Grace Webner 14. Jasmarie Flanery had 13 kills, Caden Iredale two, and Keira Simmons and Mollie Monthei one each.

Monthei had her hands in on 46 assists to pace Panorama setters. Poldberg had four assists and Boettcher three, with Simmons and Meredith Woodworth both having two assists while Webner and Flanery each had one.

Boettcher had 32 digs and Webner 31. Flanery and Monthei both provided 18 digs, with Carley Van Gundy having 15 and Poldberg 13 while Simmons, Iredale, Andrea Hammer and Caitlyn Sloss had one dig apiece.

The Panthers had an ‘off’ day serving, finishing just 133-of-167 (80 percent) with 16 total aces.

Monthei was 23-26-2, Poldberg 17-21-3 and Flanery 11-14-1, with Webner 12-12-2, Boettcher 9-12-1, Simmons 8-9-1 behind the line while Van Gundy was 5-of-9 and Woodworth 2-of-2.

Panorama hosts West Central Valley Tuesday in their final home action of the season.
