It is no accident that low-cost bargains were available at the semi-annual St. Patrick Regina Guild rummage sale Thursday, Friday and Saturday in Perry.

The closing day of the St. Patrick’s Regina Guild rummage sale brought the $1-a-bag specials beloved by bargain hunters Saturday.

Organizers said they hoped to break the $4,000 mark by the end of the sale at 2 p.m. Saturday, which would make it a successful event. The semi-annual fundraiser began Thursday in the gymnasium of St. Partick School.

Carrying on a tradition started by their mother, Rita Smithson, for many years the lead organizer of the charity fundraiser, Denise Smithson Koppenhaver of Perry, Bob “Stub” Smithson of Perry and Jim Smithson of Orlando, Fla., were seen helping customers at the St. Patrick’s Regina Guild rummage sale Saturday.
