Saturday brings the Perry Lutheran Homes’ celebration of 65 years of serving elderly residents in Perry and surrounding communities with two hours of live music, food and the third annual Run Through Time 5K fun run.

The Run Through Time will start and finish at the Perry Lutheran Homes Eden Acres Campus at 1300 28th St. Registration opens at 9 a.m., and fun run time is 10 a.m.

This year the run is an out-and-back-style fun run, starting and ending at Eden Acres and connecting with the Raccoon River Valley Trail for most of the run.

Age-appropriate events will be staged for all attendees, with games for all children to play from 10 a.m. until noon, sponsored by the Acorns and Oaks Intergenerational Christian Daycare and the Perry Lutheran Homes.

Local businesses, church groups, athletic groups, civic and social groups, families and friends have formed teams for the untimed fun run, with jogging or walking equally encouraged for all ages and fitness abilities.

Participants are encouraged to dress up in their favorite decade attire or like their favorite band or musician and enjoy music, memories and blasts from the past. Prizes will be awarded for “best-dressed,” so creativity is strongly encouraged.
