DES MOINES — The Perry boys track team will be represented in five events and the Perry girls in two at the upcoming state meet at Drake Stadium.
Also competing from the local area will be Woodward-Granger senior Johnnie Morgan, who will compete in the Class 2A 800 at 10:40 a.m. Saturday. Morgan will run in the second of two heats in a timed final.
First in action for Perry will be sophomore Reece Dunlap, who will run in the Class 3A 100 dash at 11 a.m. Thursday. Dunlap will run in lane six of the second of three preliminary heats.
Jacob Thompson, Alex Long, Kaleb Olejniczak and Zach Thompson will run in the first section of the 4×800 timed finals at 12:20 p.m. Thursday.
Dunlap will return to the blue oval to run in lane one of the third preliminary heat in the 200 dash at 1:10 p.m. Thursday.
Emma Olejniczak will travel the famed surface in lane eight of the first heat in the 400 dash timed finals at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, with Adan Medina competing in lane seven of heat two in the boys 400 approximately 20 minutes later.
Jayette senior Taylor Lathrum will be the first thrower in the girls 3A shot put, which begins at 9 a.m. Friday.
The Bluejay 4×400 quartet of Dunlap, Medina, Alexis Garrido and Jose Castellanos will vie for a spot in Saturday’s finals from lane two in the first of three prelimary heats at 2:20 p.m. Friday.
Should Dunlap advance in the 100 he would compete Saturday in the finals at 12:25 p.m., with the 200 finals set for 1:35 p.m. Saturday while the boys 3A 4×400 will be the next-to-last event at the meet and will run at 4:05 p.m. Saturday.
