Representatives of the Perry Community School District held a groundbreaking ceremony Monday to mark the start of construction on the new multipurpose-wrestling room and remodeled and expanded industrial technology classroom at Perry High School.

School district voters gave overwhelming support to the construction plans in a Feb. 5 special election, with 89 percent of voters approving the sale of $6.5 million in bonds to finance the new buildings.

“This Perry Pride of the community led to a new construction project, consisting of additions and remodeling,” said a PCSD spokesperson.

The new industrial technology and multipurpose-wrestling room are expected to be ready for use by student in the fall of 2020.
