CARLISLE — The Perry boys track team found points hard to come by Tuesday at the Wildcat Relays, with the Bluejays amassing just 21 points in placing 10th in a 12-team field.

Indianola won the meet with 132 points, with host Carlisle second at 117.5 while Norwalk placed third with 95 points.

Senior Kaleb Olejniczak scored 10 points for Perry by winning the 400 in a season-best clocking of 52.25 seconds.

Kato Dougan’s fifth-place 12.22 second time in the 100 and Luke Holtorf’s eighth-place push of 41 feet, 11-3/4 inches in the shot put were the only other individual event placings for Perry. Holtorf’s effort was a season-best.

The sprint medley foursome of Dougan, Oljeniczak, Joseph Clark and Justin Stammer placed sixth in a season-best 1 minute, 39.04 seconds, with Bryan Funez, Mario Cruz, Hayden McFarland and Eduardo Sanchez seventh in the 4×800 in 9:08.43 — a season-best time by nearly 20 seconds — while Jeb Stewart, Jered Narber, Jayson Chavez and Logan Haynes ran to eighth in the shuttle hurdle in 1:16.89.

McFarland and Cruz posted personal-best efforts of 2:16.48 and of 2:19.51, respectively, in the 800, with Stammer running the 200 in 25.62 while Funez posted a 5:12.04 in the 1600. Stewart ran both the 110 high hurdles (19.78) and 400 low hurdles (1:08.89) with Dougan leaping 19’2 in the long jump.

Jordan Long, Caden Steva, Clark and Narber ran the 4×200 (143.87) and Clark, Cruz, Long and Naber the 4×400 (4:04.97) while Clark, Long, Ben Stika and Collin Malmberg competed in the distance medley (4:37.91).

The Bluejays will return to the track Thursday with a visit to the Mustang Invitational in Grimes.
