Organizers are stitching together plans for the second annual Fiber Art Fair set for May 12 in downtown Perry, a daylong event filled with fiber art classes and demonstrations in an interactive and creative environment.
More than 70 light poles in Perry’s Downtown Cultural District — along with bike racks, benches, handrails, from pillar to post — will again be sheathed in colorful yarn in advance of the Fiber Art Fair, sponsored by Art on the Prairie and La Poste.
New this year will be a display on the wall of the Josh Davis plaza, with a wire frame supporting a wall of weavings.
“This design will be a bit larger in size on the wall but wanted to give a sneak peek,” said a La Poste LLC post on Facebook.
A number of local vendors will have yarns, spinning wheels, drop spindles, woven and knit goods, fiber arts supplies and other textile goods for sale. Fairgoers will also enjoy live music and freshly baked cookies courtesy of the ladies of La Poste.
The Perry City Council gave permission at its Oct. 16 meeting for city property to be used in staging the event.
