State titles in seven classes of high school football will be earned Wednesday and Thursday.

All classes of Iowa prep football will now enter the Sweet 16, with each of the surviving teams now officially declared as “playoff qualifiers” by the IHSAA. Teams who lost in the first or second round are considered to have played in the “postseason” are were not rewarded with banners or official “playoff” recognition.

The IHSAA will now reseed all classes. The Sweet 16 will play Oct. 30, with the quarterfinals to be held Nov. 6. All games will start at 7 p.m. and have an admission of $8.

Class 1A
PELLA CHRISTIAN 21, PANORAMA 19
The host Eagles (6-3) led, 14-6, entering the fourth quarter, with the Panthers unable to pull out the win. Panorama bows out at 6-3.

UNDERWOOD 37, WOODWARD-GRANGER 7
The 8-1 Eagles broke open a scoreless tie after one quarter to take a 13-0 lead into the intermission. Underwood led, 30-0, after producing a 17-0 third frame that iced the game. W-G finishes 6-3 overall.

Visiting Carlisle (6-3) was unimpressed with the No. 1 ranking of previously undefeated DC-G (6-1) Friday and came out with confidence, seizing a 14-0 lead after one quarter. By halftime the issue had been decided, with the Wildcats stunning the Mustangs by opening a 42-7 lead at the break en route to the lopsided upset.
