A deployment send-off ceremony will be Sunday morning in Boone for the Headquarters and Headquarters Company of the 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 34th Infantry Division, Iowa Army National Guard. The unit will be deployed for about one year as part of the Kosovo Force NATO mission.
The ceremony will be Sunday Sept. 13 at 8 a.m. Due to ongoing COVID-19 health concerns, the ceremony will not be open to the public but will be live streamed on Facebook for everyone to view.
In addition, friends and family of the Red Bulls are invited to wave and show support to the soldiers as they drive through Boone on their way to the airport. The buses will be driving through town at about 9 a.m.
