Serial abuser arrested in Van Meter Friday

Jerimiah Lynn Jordan, 32, of Fort Dodge was arrested Friday on a charge of third or subsequent offense domestic abuse assault.

A Fort Dodge man was arrested in Van Meter Friday after allegedly assaulting the same woman he was convicted of assaulting in 2018 in Scranton.

Jerimiah Lynn Jordan, 32, of 311 First St., Fort Dodge, was charged with third or subsequent offense domestic abuse assault.

The about 3 p.m. Friday in the 100 block of S. Hazel Street in Van Meter, where a witness saw Jordan allegedly “grabbing the victim and placing her in a motor vehicle by force,” according to court records.

A witness also saw Jordan allegedly “grabbing the same victim again by her wrists and forcefully removing her from the vehicle,” according to court records, and “then he struck her in the chest with a closed fist.”

An officer with the Van Meter police Department “observed a deep red mark on her chest” that the victim “claimed to be a birth mark but appeared to be a mark from a strike,” according to court records.

Jordan is held in the Dallas County Jail without bond in advance of an initial appearance in Dallas County District Court.

Jordan was convicted of domestic abuse assault causing bodily injury or mental illness in 2013 in Kossuth County District Court. He was convicted of first-offense domestic abuse assault in 2018 in Greene County District Court after he punched the same victim in the mouth, causing her lip to bleed, in Scranton.

*A criminal charge is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
