Serial abuser arrested on Dallas County warrant Friday

Bryan Thomas Baase, 36, of Des Moines was arrested Friday on a Dallas County warrant in connection with a July 2019 incident in which he choked his girlfriend at the Dallas County Fair in front of their 2-year-old child.

A Des Moines man was arrested on a Dallas County warrant Friday for violating the terms of his probation after he was convicted in Polk County District Court of domestic abuse assault and child endangerment in connection with an incident in August in which he slapped the mother of his child across the face in the presence of their 3-year-old child.

Bryan Thomas Baase, 36, of 4101 45th St., Des Moines, was arrested on the Dallas County warrant in connection with a July 2019 incident in which he choked the same woman at the Dallas County Fair in front of their 2-year-old child.

Baase is held in the Dallas County Jail on a $2,000 cash or surety bond in advance of a hearing in Dallas County District Court.

Baase had two counts of second-degree sexual abuse waived back to juvenile court in 2000 in Dallas County District Court. He had a charge of assault causing bodily injury dismissed in 2003 in Dallas County District Court. He was convicted of domestic abuse assault in 2007 in Polk County District Court. He was convicted of simple assault in 2011 in Polk County District Court. He was convicted of domestic abuse assault in 2019 in Dallas County District Court, and he was convicted of domestic abuse assault in 2020 in Polk County District Court.

*A criminal charge is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
