With the heat advisory in effect until Wednesday night and with highs rising into the middle 90s and heat index values expected to range from 104°F to 109°F by Wednesday afternoon, cooling centers have been opened in the following libraries and public safety buildings in Dallas County:
- Perry Public Library-1101 Willis Ave., Perry
- Adel Library-330 S 10th St., Adel
- Dallas Center Library-1308 Walnut St., Dallas Center
- DeSoto Library-405 Walnut St., DeSoto
- Minburn Library-618 Fifth St., Minburn
- Van Meter Library-505 Grant St., Van Meter
- Waukee Public Safety Building-1300 S.E. L.A. Grant Parkway, Waukee
The hot and humid conditions will continue across the southern reaches of Iowa Thursday, but some relief is anticipated north of U.S. Highway 34.
