The National Weather Service in Des Moines has issued a severe thunderstorm warning until 9:15 p.m. Sunday for southern Dallas County, northern Madison County and eastern Guthrie County.
At 8:30 p.m. a severe thunderstorm was located over Stuart, or 13 miles northeast of Greenfield, moving east at 40 mph.
Radar indicated quarter-size hail. Damage to vehicles is expected.
Pea-size to quarter-size hail was reported covering the roadway in De Soto at 9 p.m.
Locations impacted include West Des Moines, Clive, Waukee, Adel, Dallas Center, Earlham, De Soto, Van Meter, Redfield, Dexter, Diamondhead Lake and Badger Creek State Park.
The area includes U.S. Interstate 80 between mile markers 97 and 120.
