Severe thunderstorm watch in effect until 10 p.m. Wednesday

The National Weather Service offices in Des Moines has issued a severe thunderstorm watch in effect until 10 p.m. Wednesday for Dallas County and all of central and western Iowa.

Scattered strong to severe thunderstorms are developing this afternoon and will continue into tonight. The main threats will be damaging thunderstorm wind gusts, large hail and heavy rain. An isolated tornado or two is also possible.

Dallas County and the following Iowa counties are included in the severe thunderstorm watch: Adair, Adams, Audubon, Boone, Calhoun, Carroll, Cass, Clarke, Crawford, Decatur, Fremont, Greene, Guthrie, Hamilton, Harrison, Humboldt, Lucas, Madison, Mills, Minona, Montgomery, Page, Pocahontas, Polk, Pottawattamie, Ringgold, Sac, Shelby, Story, Taylor, Union, Warren, Wayne and Webster.
