DES MOINES — The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm watch through Tuesday night until midnight Wednesday for Adair, Green, Guthrie and 26 other counties in southwest Iowa.
Scattered large hail and isolated very large hail, up to 2 inches, is predicted.
Wind gusts in excess of 70 mph are predicted.
Other southwest Iowa counties under the severe thunderstorm watch include Adams, Audubon, Buena Vista, Calhoun, Carroll, Cass, Cherokee, Crawford, Fremont, Harrison, Humboldt, Ida, Mills, Monona, Montgomery, Page, Plymouth, Pocahontas, Pottawattamie, Ringgold, Sac, Shelby, Taylor, Union, Webster and Woodbury counties.
