The Dallas County Sheriff's office issued a warning to citizens Saturday about sophisticated scam phone callers who are trying to impersonate the sheriff's office.

A head-on collision involving a patrol vehicle of the Dallas County Sheriff’s office and a vehicle occupied by a woman and two children occurred just north of Puckerbrush Road on R Avenue about noon Thursday.

A head-on collision occurred about noon Thursday involving a patrol vehicle from the Dallas County Sheriff’s office and a vehicle occupied by a woman and two children.

There were minor injuries but “nothing critical, life-threatening or requiring an ambulance,” said Dallas County Deputy Sheriff Sgt. Adam Infante.”In this case I would call it bumps, bruises and scratches.”

The patients refused ambulance transport.

The incident occurred in the 31400 block of R Avenue north of Van Meter and U.S. Interstate 80.

The accident is under investigation by the Iowa State Patrol, Infante said.

“Anytime we have an accident with one of our people, we have an outside agency do the investigation, so the State Patrol is going to handle it,” he said.

Airbags deployed in both vehicles. The sheriff’s vehicle was a Ford SUV.

The Iowa State Patrol, Dallas County Sheriff’s office, Van Meter First Responders, Van Meter Volunteer Fire Department, the Adel Volunteer Fire Department and the Dallas County EMS responded to the incident.
