The Perry High School Class of 2021 has erected a memorial sign at the gates of Dewey Field in honor of their classmate, Melanie Gonzalez, who died tragically in a drowning accident this weekend
PHS Student Body President Jayson Chavez said the seniors placed the sign so that the community “can have the chance to go set flowers or candles and show love and grief for the family.”
The sign hangs at the black gates on the east side of Dewey field along 18th Street.
Services for Melanie pending at the Carris Family Funeral Home and Cremation Care. PHS Principal Dan Marburger said Saturday that special counseling services will be made available to students starting Monday and will continue throughout the week and as long as needed.
La clase de la escuela secundaria Perry de 2021 ha erigido un letrero conmemorativo en las puertas de Dewey Field en honor a su compañera de clase, Melanie González, quien murió trágicamente en un accidente por ahogamiento.
El presidente del Cuerpo Estudiantil de PHS, Jayson Chavez, dijo que los estudiantes de último año colocaron el letrero para que la comunidad “pueda tener la oportunidad de ir a poner flores o velas y mostrar amor y dolor por la familia”.

El director de PHS, Dan Marburger, dijo el sábado que los arreglos para el funeral de Melanie están pendientes y se anunciarán lo antes posible. Los servicios especiales de consejería estarán disponibles para los estudiantes a partir del lunes y continuarán durante la semana y durante el tiempo que sea necesario.
