MINNEAPOLIS — Six members of PAWS (Perry Area Winter Swim team) will dive into the waters at the University of Minnesota pool Saturday and Sunday when they compete in the Midwest Regional Swim Meet.
Riese, Chase and Devon Archer will be joined by Sarah and Haley Vaughn and Sophia McDevitt in making the journey to the Twin Cities. They will be joined by 49 other qualifiers, including swimmers from the Clarinda, Denison and LeMars teams that PAWS competes against.
Haley Vaughn has served as the head coach this season and will face a busy slate of her own, as the PHS junior will compete in the 50 and 100 meter freestyle as well as the 200 meter individual medley. Younger sister Sarah will swim in two relays, as will Haley.
McDevitt will be busy as well. She swims in the 50 and 100 backstroke, 100 butterfly and 100 breastroke as well as three freestyle races.
All three of the Archer brothers will be part of various freestyle relays, with Chase also competing in the 50 free while Devon has both the 50 and 100 free on his docket.
Devon, Chase and Riese will all take the plunge in the freestyle relays.Devon will also race in the 50-100 freestyle , while Chase patakes in the 50 freestyle meet.
