Affordable Quality Tire and Service is the new name of the Smith Tire II shop at 124 Willis Ave.
Bill and Nicole Heinkel of Perry purchased the business last week. They are the owners of Affordable Quality Roofing and Exteriors, a local Perry business since 1997, and the name of their new business is uniform with the old one.
Bob Moses of Perry, former co-owner, will continue at the new shop, said Bill Heinkel. Former co-owner Tim Piper of Woodward has moved on.
“Bob’s still there,” Heinkel said. “I’ve known Bob and Tim for more than 20 years. I’ve known Bob since he used to work at Bauer Built.”
The location served the Smith Tire II for 20 years. The property was used for several years as a car lot by McKee Auto Center and was converted to a service and repair shop in 1998.
The 4,500-square-foot steel building was built in 1978, according to county records. The Smith Tire shop in Yale is a separate company.
