The snow ordinance is in effect on Perry’s roadways until noon Friday, and the wet, heavy snow has caused the early closure of local schools.

All vehicles should be from city roadways until 12 p.m. Friday so that snow plows can clear the streets. Officers of the Perry Police Department will be enforcing the ordinance.

The schools in the Perry Community School District will dismiss students three hours early Thursday, March 9, the district announced. The Perry High School and Perry Middle School will dismiss at 12:15 p.m., and the Perry Elementary School will dismiss at 12:30 p.m.

St. Patrick Catholic School will dismiss at noon Thursday. Gingerbread preschool will not hold afternoon session, and there will be no after-school care.

The DMACC campuses in Perry, Boone and Ames will close at 10 a.m. Thursday, March 9 due to winter weather conditions, the college announced.

The Perry Food Pantry will close at noon Thursday.

ThePerryNews.com will update this weather story as conditions change.
