The Monday meeting of the Society of Retired Educators (SORE) saw the members assemble at the Rowley Masonic Home in Perry for their monthly social call on Alan Hall, a resident at the long-term care facility.
Visiting Hall were Walter Sieck, Roger Emmert, Lou Hoger, Ken Finer, Gene Kinney, Andrew Bambrick, bilocating Ken Finer, Charlie Thompson, Bob Rounds, Larry Blaker, Jim Haas, Ray Harden and Phil Stone, who was attending prior to his relocation to the Minneapolis area.
On Tuesday the group met at the Perry Perk coffeehouse and celebrated the long-hoped-for end to the No Child Left Behind policies, begin in 2002 by the U.S. Department of Education under Pres. George W. Bush. This year’s graduating seniors at Perry High School have had their entire educational career conditioned by the largely discredited policies.
