South Dakotan arrested for allegedly assaulting Perry woman

Christopher Lehrkamp, 38, of Sioux Falls, S.D., was arrested Monday on charges of assault and public intoxication.

A South Dakota man was arrested Monday night after allegedly assaulting a Perry woman in a Perry tavern.

Christopher Lehrkamp, 38, of 614 N. Spring Ave., Sioux Falls, S.D., was charged with assault and public intoxication.

The incident occurred about 11 p.m. Monday in the 1000 block of Second Street, where officers of the Perry Police Department responded to a report of a disturbance in a tavern.

The officers made contact with the victim, who told the officers that Lehrkamp “was intoxicated and touching females inappropriately” and that he allegedly “put his tongue in her ear without consent,” according to court records.

The officers made contact with Lehrkamp, who presented as “swaying and stumbling,” and he allegedly “was also being aggressive with officers,” according to court records.

Lehrkamp blew a .246 at the Dallas County Jail, according to court records.

Lehrkamp was held in the Dallas County Jail on a $600 cash or surety bond. He is scheduled for a pretrial conference Oct. 1 in Dallas County District Court.

*A criminal charge is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
