As part of the community’s ongoing show of support for Perry Police Chief Eric Vaughn and the Perry Police Department, some of his friends from St. Patrick Catholic Church in Perry will be selling the inimitable St. Pat’s cinnamon rolls Monday, May 16 starting about 4 p.m. in the Hy-Vee parking lot in Perry.

Along with the cinnamon rolls will be be bars, pies, cakes and similar sweets.

The effort was spearheaded by Kerry Royer of Perry.

“I just can’t imagine all the emotions Eric’s family has gone through,” Royer said. “I thought this would be one small way that we could show our support as his church family.”

All of the proceeds will go to the Perry Police Department in order “to show Eric and his officers that we care about their safety as they are protecting us,” Royer said.

Vaughn was shot in the line of duty last week in the course of disarming a deranged gunman. He is now recovering.

“I was so relieved when they said non-life-threatening,” Royer said.
