The St. Patrick’s Catholic Church Knights of Columbus St. Jude Council 1243 was recognized with a Star Council award Saturday for meeting significant goals in recruitment and programming.

Past Grand Knight John McGee accepted the award, presented by Knights of Columbus District Deputy Dick Brdicko of Waukee, Knights of Columbus District Warden Juan Garcia of Waukee, Knights of Columbus State Deputy Antonio Banuelos of Des Moines and Knights of Columbus Supreme Membership Program Consultant Levi Lebya of Silver City, N.M.

“This is a very significant achievement for your council and has received the attention of Supreme,” Brdicko said. “It is great recognition of the success of your council that both our State Deputy Antonio and Supreme Membership Consultant Levi are present. In my four years of delivering council awards, I have not had a Supreme representative present.”

McGee gave the award to present Grand Knight Peter Meis, who was also honored for this year’s accomplishments.

“I am personally very proud of your accomplishments not only in the membership but especially the programs and activities that I see you doing in your community and your parish,” Brdicko said. “You are all part of an organization that is bringing the presence of Jesus to Perry, Iowa.”
