State-bound Jayettes dot All-RRC lists

Five members of the state-qualifying Perry softball team were awarded spots on the Raccoon River Conference All-Conference lists Thursday.

Junior pitcher Emma Olejniczak was an unanimous choice for the First Team. She was 5-8 in RRC games with a 1.71 ERA. He tossed 81.2 innings in league action, issuing 37 walks and allowing 53 hits while striking out 103 and allowing opposing batters to hit a paltry .150. At the plate she hit .275 with three doubles while driving in seven runs and scoring four times.

Junior Rachel Kinney and sophomore Jo Diw were both chosen for the Second Team. Kinney had 11 singles, three doubles and a triple in RRC action, driving in five runs while scoring nine times and bating .341. Diw hit .318 with 11 runs and four RBIs. She had 10 singles, a double, a triple and two home runs.

Honorable Mention status was granted to senior Victoria Hegstrom and sophomore Alyssa Kruger. Hegstrom had seven singles and two home runs, scoring twice and driving in 10 runs while posting a .333 average, with Kruger driving in 10 runs, scoring eight times and batting .293. She had eight singles, two doubles and two home runs.

Perry, ranked 15th in the final Class 4A poll, is 24-12 overall. The Jayettes finished 5-9 in RRC play, with eight losses against ranked teams, six against teams that at the time were rated no lower than fourth.
