Saturday evening’s severe thunderstorm left Perry largely unscathed, but one family in north Perry bore the brunt when high winds overturned their carport.
Steve and Brenda Golay of 2002 Fifth St. said the structure has withstood many storms in its 20 years of service and was always left unmoved, but one of Saturday’s gusts proved more powerful.
No injuries were reported in the incident, to which the Perry Police Department responded. The electric utility company was summoned in order to prevent the carport’s bringing down any nearby power lines.
