BONDURANT — The Perry boys and girls basketball team each managed to score only 10 points in the second halves of their games at Bondurant-Farrar Friday, resulting in a pair of lopsided losses.

B-F (10-9, 5-7) was a 59-23 winner over Perry (1-19, 0-13) in the girls game, with the host Bluejays (9-9, 4-8) turning a four-point halftime lead into a 62-34 victory over the visiting Bluejays (0-18, 0-13) in the boys meeting. The teams met in Perry Jan. 11, with B-F winning, 54-30, in the girls bout and by a 62-37 gap in the boys game, results which gave Friday’s hosts a pair of Raccoon River Conference season sweeps.

As has been the case in several games this season the Perry boys played a competitive first half before wilting after the intermission. The guests fell into a 10-0 hole before rallying to close to within 16-13 after one quarter of play.

Solid play in the second eight-minutes of action allowed Perry to enter the locker room in upset position, down only 28-24 with 16 minutes of basketball still to play.

At that point everything promptly collapsed, with B-F running off a 14-6 spurt to seize a 42-30 lead entering the fourth quarter. A late run could have threatened the hosts, but Perry managed only four points the rest of the way while the home team put 20 on the board to create a final margin that did not reflect the closely-played first half.

Brendan Ivory had 14 points and Keghan West 12 for Perry. June Rey Reisberg added five points, with Mario Cruz, Kato Dougan and Carlos Calderon sinking one free throw apiece.

Kyle Figenshaw led B-F with 18 points, with Connyr Duden and Nate Anderson tallying 10 points apiece. Jalen Kruse had nine points, Mason Storey six, Jordan Collins and Braden Miller four each and Cade Eichmeyer one.

The Jayettes trailed, 8-7, with two minutes left in the first quarter, but were then outscored 26-6 over the remainder of the first half to fall into a 34-13 hole at the intermission.

Peyton Tunink’s basket almost seven minutes into the second half was the lone points for Perry in the third quarter, which ended with B-F holding a 46-15 edge, with the hosts easily claiming the win from there.

Molly Lutmer had 13 points for Perry, Jayna Kenney five, Gabby West three and Tunink two.

Avery Fried’s 16 points paced B-F, with Kate Fogarty adding 11 points, Casi Waterhouse none and Kate Tidman six. Mia Miller had five points, Riley Gilroy four, Kaylee Seitzer and Malai Peffer three each and Brenna Peterson two.

The loss caps the regular season for the Jayettes, who travel to Boone Wednesday for their playoff opener, which begins at 7 p.m.

The Perry boys visit North Polk Monday and Creston Thursday to conclude their regular season.
