The Greene County Sheriff’s office has released a security surveillance image of a suspect involved in the robbery of the Peoples Bank branch in Scranton Thursday about 10:37 a.m.

The suspect was described as a white male probably in his 20s. He was wearing a gray sweat shirt, blue jeans and a tiger-striped face mask.

The suspect carried a gun but did not discharge it, according to the sheriff’s office. No information was released in regard to a get-away vehicle or the amount of money stolen.

The Iowa Department of Public Safety and the Federal Bureau of Investigation are assisting in the investigation.

A false report of a two-vehicle accident at 310th Street and Neola Avenue was made by an unknown caller to the Greene County Sheriff’s office some six minutes before the Scranton robbery was reported, according to the sheriff’s office.

Anyone with information about the robbery suspect is asked to call the Greene County Sheriff’s office at 515-386-2136.
