Dallas County Sheriff’s deputies questioned a man about 9 a.m. Sunday after a passing motorist reported seeing him rummaging through materials near the intersection of U.S. Highway 169 and Iowa Highway 141 east of Perry.
By the time law enforcement arrived on the scene, the man had begun proceeding eastward across an open farm field. No prowler or petty thief, upon investigation the man was found to be searching for his lost cell phone.
A deputy sheriff provided public assistance, giving the man a ride to the home of the man’s friend in Perry, from where he made arrangements for transportation back to his own home in Des Moines.
