An SUV left the roadway of Iowa Highway 144 on the Angus curve in southwest Boone County Wednesday afternoon and struck a power pole.

The driver sustained minor, non-life-threatening injuries and was treated at the scene by the Dallas County EMS.

The one-vehicle mishap occurred about 4 p.m. Weather and road conditions might have contributed to the accident.

The Perry Police Department, Perry First Responders, Perry Volunteer Fire Department and Boone County Sheriff’s office also responded.

  1. You’d think after all these years they could do something to fix that blinkin’ curve. People wiping out on the Angus curve is just a recurring thing. Lots of bad accidents have happened there over the years and they still are. If nothing else, I’m for putting signs up on both sides of the road with the updated statistics of accidents on record. Something must be done before there’s more tragedy there. That curve is absolutely unforgiving. With just a momentary lapse of focus or awareness, even the best of drivers can lose control on that curve. This has gone on for too long. The citizens of Boone, Guthrie, Greene and Dallas counties need to make their voices heard. What kind of massive calamity is it going to take before something is done to mitigate the danger here? I’m tired of all the excuses. Lots of us are.

  2. You are right, Nick. Particularly bad design, repeated accidents, injuries and even deaths, and yet no action by highway safety. Is it Boone County? DOT?
