It did not take long to give away 20 tons of Tyson chicken tenders Wednesday afternoon in a drive-through event at the Crossroads Church in Perry.
The Perry Food Pantry received the chicken as a donation from Tyson Fresh Meats of Perry, the area’s largest employer.
“We at Crossroads Church were thrilled to serve you today as over 1,000 cars came through our parking lot,” said Crossroads Pastor Rick Gates. “It was awesome that Tyson donated all that chicken!”
Gates noted that 40,000 pounds of breaded chicken tenders “at a conservative $4/pound, that is $160,000 worth of chicken. Thank you, Tyson, for blessing our town today!” he said.
