Perry Public Library Director Misty Stout Von Behren was joined Saturday morning by volunteers Craig Hastings and Chris Hastings and a worker from Shred-It Des Moines, a document security and shredding service, for the library’s tenth annual free paper-shredding service.

The mild autumn weather was perfect for the two-hour event, which is a regular feature on the library’s October calendar. The drive-through shredding service truck set up in the parking area between the library and the Des Moines Area Community College Perry VanKirk Career Academy.

Stout Von Behren said the shredding service might become a twice-yearly event. Shred-It’s price in 2021 was $600 for two hours and might have increased since.

The Shred-It service area includes Des Moines and Ames and stretches from Fort Dodge to Waterloo, Cedar Rapids to Oskaloosa and takes in Ottumwa and the surrounding areas.
