The Rev. Chris Reising, parish priest at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Perry, revealed Saturday he will be departing the parish in July after three years in Perry, according to a parishioner.
Reising, a Dowling High School graduate, took up his duties in Perry in July 2016 after previously serving at Our Lady of the Americas in Des Moines and Queen of the Apostles.
Reising succeeded the Rev. Cuong Nguyen, popularly known as Father Paul, who served the Catholic community in Perry from July 2013 to July 2016 before being moved to the Church of the Sacred Heart in Boone.
Change is also imminent further up the Des Moines Roman Catholic Diocese hierarchy as Bishop Richard Pates announced his retirement in February 2018 on the occasion of his 75th birthday. A successor has not been announced.
