Thomas M. Glenn, 79, of Des Moines passed away Tuesday, Aug. 7, 2018, in Des Moines, Iowa. He was born Oct. 16, 1938, in Perry, Iowa, the youngest of 12 children born to Anastasia Rose White Glenn and Francis Glenn.
Thomas attended St. Patrick’s Elementary and High School in Perry. He then received his B.S. in political science from Loras College in Dubuque, his M.S. in political science from Drake University in Des Moines and completed his education by earning his Ed.D. in counseling and personnel services also from Drake University.
Thomas is survived by two sisters, Patricia Whelchel and Ruth Lewis; his wife, Twila; children, Anastasia (Jeff) Bradley, Michelle (Steve) Baas, Angela Glenn (Shane Roberts), Mark Glenn (Heather Light) and Jennifer Glenn; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren; as well as many step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren whom he welcomed with an open heart.
He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Sharon; four sisters; and five brothers.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 11 at the First United Methodist Church, 1001 Pleasant St. in Des Moines, with burial to follow at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery. A wake will be held from 4-7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 10 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon St. in Des Moines.
