Perry Fine Arts and Hispanics United for Perry will sponsor the Three Amigos KC Mariachi Band in a program of Latin music Sunday, April 28 at 2 p.m. in the Perry Performing Arts Center at 1200 18th St. in Perry.
The Three Amigos KC, located in Kansas City, Missouri, perform popular Mariachi tunes as well as music from South and Central America, Cuba and the Caribbean. The 3 Amigos are composed of:
Robert Scagliotti, who performs on mandolin & guitar, is the founder & leader of 3 Amigos and also has experience as a double bass player with the KC Philharmonic,St. Joseph Symphony, KC Lyric Opera and has been a leader of various groups playing Jazz, Bluegrass, Caribbean and Dixieland.
Tony Swisher, on trumpet, has performed with various Jazz, Jazz Rock R&B bands. He has been an active free-lance musician and conducts several home school ensembles.
Miguel “El Mambo” DeLeon, vocalist, began his calling in Latin music in the early 1970’s and helped to introduce Salsa and Latin Jazz to the Midwest in the 1980’s, earning the nickname “Midwest Mambo King.” Over the years he has performed with many Latin legends, including the Orchestra Charambo, the Fania All Stars, Larry Harlow, Willie Colon, Tipica 73, Los Kimbos, Ray Barreto and Roberto Roena y Su Apollo Sound.
