A caller reported finding three deceased dogs at a Dawson home Tuesday morning, according to law enforcement radio traffic.
The Dallas County Sheriff’s office confirmed the discovery of the lifeless animals was reported at 11:38 a.m. Tuesday at 308 E. Third St. in Dawson. The dogs’ bodies showed “no outward signs of violence,” according to radio traffic.
The incident in under investigation. A deputy sheriff at the home in Dawson said it was being treated as “a crime scene” but could not release any other information.
A dog house could be seen at the rear of the property along with toys, suggesting it is also a home of children.
The town of 131 people has seen animal cruelty before. Dawson was the scene in March of the discovery of two dogs that had been shot, stuffed in trash bags and thrown in the Raccoon River. That case remains unsolved.
