A Perry woman who was arrested for assault March 26 was arrested again three days later in a related domestic disturbance and a third time Wednesday for allegedly trespassing at the scene of the prior disturbance.
Sheila Lee Smith, 40, of 1408 W. Second St., Perry, was charged with first-offense domestic abuse assault-injury or mental illness in the March 26 incident, disorderly conduct-abusive epithet/threatening gesture and interference with official acts in the March 29 incident and trespassing on April 1.
Smith’s first arrest occurred Thursday, March 26 about 4:15 p.m. at a residence in the 1700 block of Third Street.
Officers responded after a caller reported seeing Smith allegedly “hitting the victim in the neck and upper torso area.”
According to court records, the victim admitted Smith “did hit him in the neck area,” and the officer observed “fresh scratches on the victim’s neck area.” The officer determined Smith and the victim were “in a dating relationship for the last 6-7 months.”
Smith’s second arrest occurred Sunday, March 29 about 7:45 p.m. in a residence in the 900 block of Central Street in north Perry, where an officer of the Perry Police Department was following up on the March 26 assault.
According to court records, the officer arrived to find Smith and the victim in the March 26 assault “fighting inside the house.” The officer “attempted to separate” the disputants, who “were extremely agitated and uncooperative” and refused to listen to the officer’s commands.
The Central Street homeowner requested a no-trespass notice be served to Smith, and Smith “was served the notice and told to leave the area.”
Instead of departing the Central Street residence, Smith allegedly “continued to yell and curse at the previous victim in a threatening manner” and “refused several commands to leave the area,” leading to her arrest for disorderly conduct-abusive epithet/threatening gesture, interference with official acts.
After her detainment and transportation to the offices of the Perry Police Department at 908 Willis Ave., Smith allegedly “threw furniture and refused to listen to multiple commands by officers.”
The third arrest occurred Wednesday, April 1, when a caller reported that Smith trespassing at the Central Street property. An officer responded and allegedly found Smith at the property, leading to her arrest for trespassing.
Smith is held in the Dallas County Jail on a $1,300 cash or surety bond. She is scheduled to appear in Dallas County District Court April 13 for a preliminary hearing on the domestic abuse assault charge April 13 and June 15 for a pretrial conference on the disorderly conduct, interference and trespassing charges.
*A criminal charge is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
I believe that relationship is beyond help. I bet that poor guy wished he never had asked her out that first time. Come on, girl, just stay away from him. He may be a guy, but I’m sure he knows at this point you are mad at him. Why do you keep going over there to get arrested?
