Perry sophomore Delaney Eiteman sends her approach shot toward the fifth green at the Perry Golf and Country Club last season.

CARROLL — Perry played the par-34 back nine of the Carroll County Club with host Carroll Friday, with the Tigers escaping with a 188-189 victory.

Carroll’s Somer Sinnard and Perry’s Molly Lutmer had the two lowest rounds after each turned in a card of 42, but Sinnard won the tiebreaker for medalist honors, Lutmer receiving runner-up recognition.

Hannah Roberts fired a 48 for Perry, with Delaney Eiteman shooting a 49 and Alyssa Kruger a 50.

Josie Pettitt had a 45 and Kyla Boes a 49 for Carroll, who slipped off with the win when Madi Vonnahme’s fourth team score of 52 provided a total one stroke less than Perry’s. Sydney Haakenson and Arrington Jensen both had rounds of 53 for the hosts, neither of which was tabulated.

The Jayettes return to action Monday when both Perry squads host the annual Witmer-Dunphy Invitational. Gilbert, Nodaway Valley and West Central Valley will round out the traditional four-team field for the nine-hole event.
