A celebration of life for Tommy L. Holmes, 71, of Perry will begin with a visitation at 3 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 25, with the family receiving friends from 5-7 p.m., at Murdock Funeral Home.
Tom passed away Saturday, Jan. 20, 2018, in Perry, Iowa, of a sudden illness.
Private burial will be in Violet Hill Cemetery in Perry with Military Rites. Honorary pallbearers will be Bill Simmer, Denny Snowgren, Scott Miller, Glen Weber, Randy Couchman, Chuck Scheib, Jack Renshaw, Dave Roush and Cliff Fagen.
Survivors include one daughter, Tamara Holmes of Coon Rapids; two sisters, Cheryl Bell of Ocala, Fla., and Kathy (Jerry) Thornburg of Perry; four nieces, Janelle Whelchel, Jill Thornburg, Julie Collins and Lisa Marshall; several great-nieces and great-nephews; and former spouse, Cathy Holmes of Perry.
Preceding Tommy in death were his parents, Darrell D. and Marcelyn B. (Wall) Holmes; and a brother-in-law, David Bell.
Memorials will be directed to Iowa Public Television in his name and may be left or mailed to Murdock Funeral Home.
