Class 1A No. 1 Collins-Maxwell stifled host Perry Friday, recording a 9-0 win in their non-conference bout.

Senior ace Mikayla Houge struck out 11 and walked just one in six hitless innings, with eighth-grader Erica Houge fanning two in a 1-2-3 seventh inning.

Molly Lutmer drew a walk in the second inning to account for the lone runner to reach base for Perry (2-13).

C-M improved to 16-1 on the season. Sophomore Alexis Houge had two hits and Mikayla Houge two singles and a double to fuel the Spartan offense. The guests scored four times in the first inning, three times in the second and twice in the sixth.

Jayna Kenney suffered the loss in the ring for the Jayettes. She yielded nine runs on two walks and one hit batsman while recording two strikeouts.

Perry finishes their regular season Monday with a varsity doubleheader at Des Moines Christian. Their are no lights at the Lions diamond, with the first game to start at 4 p.m. and the nightcap to follow.

Perry begins postseason play Thursday with a Class 4A Region 2 game at Gilbert. The winner faces No. 9 DC-G, in Dallas Center July 18. All playoff games start at 7 p.m.
