Boone scored twice in the top of the fifth to break open a 2-2 game, then held off a frantic rally in the bottom of the seventh to post a 4-2 win over host Perry Thursday.

The 12th-ranked Toreadors moved to 3-2 overall and 1-2 in Raccoon River Conference play with the league win while Perry fell to 3-4 and 1-3.

Emma Olejniczak singled in seventh with two outs to start a final Jayette surge. Alyssa Kruger reached when Boone tried, too late, to force Olejniczak at second. A pop out ended the game.

Two Toreador runs in the top of the first gave the guests the quick edge they would need as the Jayettes plated two runs in the bottom of the third.

Maddy Jans reached on an error to begin the rally, with Jo Diw hitting a single. A sacrifice moved the runners up a base, with Kruger driving both home with a double. Rachel Kinney also doubled, but Perry was unable to plate another run and had to settle, at the moment, for tying the score.

Diw and Kinney each had two hits in the game, with Olejniczak assessed the loss in the ring. She yielded four runs on seven hits and two walks while finishing with five strikeouts.

Perry hosts the Paul and Mary Ann Graves Tournament at the PAC Saturday. They will face IKM in the 9:30 a.m. game, with Van Meter taking on Interstate-35 in the second match. Losing teams will play in the consolation game at approximately 12:30 p.m. with the winners playing immediately afterward.
