The National Weather Service (NWS) office in Des Moines has issued a tornado watch until 10 p.m. Tuesday for Dallas County and much of central and southwestern Iowa.
Torrential rains and winds up to 70 mph are forecast.
Along with Dallas County, the tornado watch is in effect for Adair, Adams, Black Hawk, Boone, Breme, Cass, Decatur, Fremont, Grundy, Guthrie, Jasper, Lucas, Madison, Mahaska, Marion, Marshall, Mills, Monroe, Montgomery, Page, Polk, Pottawattamie, Poweshiek, Ringgold, Story, Tame, Taylor, Union and Warren counties.
