The National Weather Service offices in Johnston have issued a tornado watch for the Perry area until midnight Monday.
Intense tornados are possible as well as damaging winds gusting to 75 mph. Scattered large hail and isolated very large hail to 3 inches in diameter are also possible.
Dallas County and 17 other counties in central Iowa are within the tornado watch area.
