Officers with the Perry Police Department and firefighters with the Perry Volunteer Fire Department extracted a 2-year-old from an accidentally locked apartment Monday morning.

A 2-year-old toddler found himself locked inside an apartment at 2811 Warford St. about 10:30 a.m. Monday, and the adults responsible for him found themselves locked outside the apartment.

Officers of the Perry Police Department responded to the entrapment, assessed the situation and called for the Perry Volunteer Fire Department to respond with a ladder.

Firefighters responded, but the ladder was not needed, and no dramatic photos of an aerial extraction were taken. The firefighters instead gained entry via the hallway door.

The child was unharmed, and the adults were much relieved.
