The National Weather Service (NWS) office in Des Moines issued a special weather statement Saturday evening, warning travelers that icy spots on bridges and overpasses will be possible as melted snow refreezes.

Snow that fell and then melted to some degree Saturday morning is refreezing Saturday night. Icy spots are mostly found on bridges and overpasses, so travelers are urged to use caution.

Refreezing of other surfaces such as parking lots and sidewalks is also possible, the NWS said.
