Visitors can watch hundreds of fish pour into the pond at Triumph Park in Waukee when the Iowa Department of Natural Resources (DNR) stocks it with trout around 1:30 p.m. Monday.
“The Trick or Trout event is open to all ages to watch the stocking and cast a line,” said Heather Behrens, the director of marketing and communications for the city of Waukee. “The event is a great way to fill the afternoon while the kids are out of school for the teacher work day. Freedom Blend Coffee will be have coffee, hot chocolate, muffins and cinnamon rolls for purchase.:
Behrens said that if you plan to cast a line, be sure to bring your Iowa fishing license and trout stamp if you are 16 years or older. If you catch a tagged fish, turn the tag in to Waukee Parks and Recreation for a treat from local sponsors, she said.
Get all the details on buying a fishing license, Iowa fishing regulations and more on the DNR website. According to Iowa’s fishing regulations, daily limits are 25 for bluegills, five for trout and three for bass. Bass must be at least 15 inches long to keep.
