A truck driven by Christopher David Hasty, 34, of 7 Prairie Lane in Dallas Center crashed through a gazebo and wiped out fencing and patio furniture at the Amy Gene Acres senior housing complex at 1107 Sugar Grove Ave. in Dallas Center early Sunday morning.

A pickup truck crashed through a gazebo shortly after midnight Sunday at Amy Gene Acres, a senior housing complex at 1107 Sugar Grove Ave. in Dallas Center.

The gray GMC pickup took out three pillars on one side of the structure and destoyed fencing and patio furniture as it careened through the complex, finally striking a tree and coming to rest.

Radio traffic indicated the driver of the truck refused medical attention. There were no other reported injuries in the mishap.

The cause and circumstances surrounding the loss of control of the vehicle are under investigation at this hour by officers of the Iowa State Patrol and the Dallas County Sheriff’s office.

It appeared law enforcement was taking statements from a group of eight to 10 young people at the scene at about 12:40 a.m.

A resident of the housing complex said her husband came outside when he heard the racket from the collision and saw a second vehicle enter the parking lot with occupants appearing to be related to the occupants of the truck.

The Amy Gene Acres property is owned by Robert and Benjamin Fox, according to county records.

The Dallas Center First Responders, Dallas Center Volunteer Fire Department and Dallas County EMS also responded to the incident.
