A Toyota pickup truck struck the north side of the Casey’s General Store at 1308 First Ave. in Perry about 6:30 p.m. Saturday. Occupants of the vehicle said the accident was caused when the brakes failed.
There were no injuries in the incident.
The vehicle sustained front end damage. The commercial structure did not appear to be damaged.
The Perry Police Department responded to the mishap, and a private towing service was called when it was found the vehicle was inoperable.
The damage to the store’s structure compares favorably to what was sustained March 7, 2016, to the west wall of the property when an out-of-control vehicle caused significant damage.
